Redesigning the rental process with ease and sustainability in mind.

A pedestrian approach to visual identity designed to blend in, rather than stand out.

Located in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn, 505 State Street is New York's first all-electric skyscraper. The team partnered with Alloy to reimagine the apartment rental experience in New York City.
Research revealed that the majority of New York City residents who rent find the process frustrating. Issues included limited flexibility, inconsistent information delivery, and lack of intuitive digital tools that matched the quality of the properties themselves.
Rather than viewing rent as merely a monthly obligation, the designers sought to reframe it as an opportunity for sustainable living by default and community building integrated into residential spaces.
The project highlights distinctive amenities: tree-lined streets adjacent to historic brownstones, integrated appliances designed for seamless environments, and 500 ready-to-use parking spaces for bikes that reduce vehicle dependency and enhance walkability.
The digital leasing experience emphasizes simplicity across three primary pages, offering users flexibility to inquire, schedule tours, or apply based on their interest level.
Interactive features include side-by-side unit comparisons, isometric floor plans for spatial visualization, and interactive moments showing how the space evolves with natural light from morning to evening.
The work demonstrates early steps toward fostering experiences that are sustainable and significant for their communities within the residential rental sector.
